Dr. Debajit Palit
TERI
A renewable energy researcher associated with TERI, he is Masters in Physics and Post Graduate diploma in Non-conventional Energy Technology. Currently working as Fellow and Area Convenor of the 'Lighting a Billion Lives©a' (LaBL) initiative in TERI, he has over 12 years of experience in designing, implementing and evaluation of solar photovoltaic and biomass energy projects and policy issues in rural electrification and distributed generation sector. Apart from India, he has experience in working in Bhutan, Cambodia, Myanmar, Scotland, Thailand, Ethiopia, Kenya, Sierra Leone and Liberia and is currently responsible for strategic alliance and implementation of LaBL initiative in India, Africa and South East Asia.
He represented TERI in the Sub-group on Distribution including village and household electrification of the 11th Five Year Plan - Working Group on Power, 2006 and contributed during the development of guidelines for the DDG program under Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Vidyutikaran Yojana (RGGVY) of the Ministry of Power. He has authored a book on rural electricity distribution franchisees, contributed more than 15 technical papers in journals, conference proceedings and books. He has participated in various national and international conferences and workshops and is life member of a number of professional and academic organizations.
