I am an officer of the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) since 1990. During this period I have acquired extensive experience of development management, crisis management, project and policy formulation and implementation coupled with a practical perspective on improving delivery systems that balance equity considerations with efficiency ones. As a woman in administration, I have an abiding interest in gender issues especially in improving access of women in a developing society like India to education, opportunities and resources. I have done my Graduation and Masters Degree in Economics from Lucknow University, Lucknow (both first class first) (INDIA) and was working on an Indian Council of Social Sciences Research (ICSSR) Doctoral fellowship prior to my joining the Indian Administrative Service. I have got about 20 years of direct hands on experience in field Administration, Law and Order /Crisis Management, poverty alleviation programmes and development issues and in managing and leading teams during my stint as Sub Divisional Magistrate, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Administrator, Haryana, Urban Development Authority and Deputy Commissioner/District Magistrate. During the last 7 years, I have been working at the State Headquarter in the State Owned Public Sectors Undertakings as Managing Director/Chief Executive Administrator/Director/Special Secretary in diverse areas such as Education, Rural Industries, Power, Irrigation and Renewable Energy and General Administration.

At present, I am posted as Chief Electoral Officer, Govt. of Haryana and Director Renewable Energy Department, Haryana Renewable Energy Development Agency(HAREDA) .

Under my leadership from March, 2005 onwards, the Haryana Renewable Energy Department and Haryana Renewable Energy Development Agency (HAREDA) have emerged as the National Leader in the country in the field of Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation. A new policy initiation for promoting generation of power from new and renewable sources was authored and piloted by me for Haryana under which an investment to the tune of Rs.3500 crores have attracted Independent Power Producers for setting up of Renewable Energy Power projects of 697 MW through Bio-mass, Small Hydro and Wind energy based projects. On the initiation of my Department, the State Govt. has declared tariff for the purchase of power from the projects which are the highest in the country.

On various initiatives taken by me, the Department of Renewable Energy, Haryana, on the occasion of Silver Jubilee Function of Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, Govt.of India, New Delhi held on 22nd November, 2007 was awarded First prize for Solar Cooker (Dish), First Prize for Solar Energy for Urban Areas and Second Prize for Solar Photovoltaic programme (2002-07) by Smt.Pratiba Patil, Hon'ble President of India, New Delhi.

On the occasion of National Energy Conservation Day 2008 on 14.12.2008, I was awarded National Award for doing outstanding work in the areas of Energy Efficiency and Demand Side Energy Management by Sh.Sushil Shinde, Hon'ble Union Minister for Power, Govt.of India, New Delhi.

On the occasion of National Energy Conservation Day 2009 on 14.12.2009, I received the National Award for Best State for doing outstanding work in the areas of 'Energy Efficiency and Demand Side Energy Management by Sh.Sushil Shinde, Hon'ble Union Minister for Power, Govt.of India and New Delhi.
