Rohit Chaudhry

Rohit Chaudhry's practice focuses on energy and project finance transactions, project restructurings, as well as on sales and acquisitions in the energy and independent power industry. Mr. Chaudhry has worked on numerous complex and significant restructurings and financings in the United States, Asia and Latin America. He represents commercial lenders, institutional investors, developers, and multilateral and bilateral agencies on domestic and international transactions.

Representative Matters

• Represented The Royal Bank of Scotland and Union Bank of California, as joint lead arrangers, on the $534 million financing of two gas fired peaking power projects in Connecticut developed by GenConn Energy, a joint venture between NRG Energy and The United Illuminating Company.

• Represented the lenders, including IFC, ADB, the Export-Import Bank of Korea, the Korean Export Insurance Corp., BNP Paribas, and a syndicate of Indian banks led by the State Bank of India, in connection with the $4.3 billion project financing of the 4000 MW Mundra coal-fired ultra mega power project in Gujarat, India, sponsored by Tata Power.

Mr. Chaudhry is recognized in The Best Lawyers in America (2010). He was also cited in Chambers Global - The World's Leading Lawyers for Business (2010) for project finance and project finance - power in the United States and Chambers USA - America's Leading Lawyers for Business (2008 and 2009) for his work in project finance.
